📒Frontiers Of Fundamental Physics 4 by B. G. Sidharth
Frontiers of Fundamental Physics 4 Summary : This symposium was organized at the B.M. Birla Science Centre, Hyderabad, India, and provided a platform for frontier physicists to exchange ideas and review the latest work and developments on a variety of interrelated topics. A feature of the symposium, as well as the proceedings, is the B.M. Birla Memorial Lecture by Nobel Laureate Professor Gerard 't Hooft. There were participants from the USA, several European countries, Russia and CIS countries, South Africa, Japan, India and elsewhere, of whom some forty scientists presented papers. Spanning a wide range of contemporary issues in fundamental physics from string theory to cosmology, the proceedings present many of these talks and contributions.
📒Themistius On Aristotle Physics 4 by Themistius,
Themistius On Aristotle Physics 4 Summary : Physics Book 4 is one of Aristotle's most interesting works, discussing place, time and vacuum. Themistius was a fourth-century AD orator and essayist, not only a philosopher, and he thought that only paraphrases of Aristotle were needed, because there were already such comprehensive commentaries. Nonetheless, his paraphrastic commentaries are full of innovative comment. According to Aristotle, there is no such thing as 3-dimensional space. A thing's exactly-fitting place is a surface, the inner surface of its immediate surroundings. One problem that this created was that the outermost stars, in Aristotle's view, have no surroundings, and so no place. Themistius suggests that we might think instead of the neighbouring bodies which they surround as providing their place. Aristotle saw time as something countable, and concluded that it depends for its existence on that of conscious beings to do the counting. Themistius is in the minority among commentators in disagreeing. Themistius concurs with Aristotle in denying the existence of vacuum. We cannot think that a space formerly empty of body penetrates right through a body inserted into it. If one extension could penetrate another, says Themistius, a body could penetrate a body, because bodies occupy places solely in virtue of being extended.
📒Case Studies In Atomic Physics 4 by E McDaniel
Case Studies in Atomic Physics 4 Summary : Case Studies in Atomic Physics IV presents a collection of six case studies in atomic physics. The first study deals with the correspondence identities associated with the Coulomb potential: the Rutherford scattering identity, the Bohr-Sommerfeld identity, and the Fock identity. The second paper reviews advances in recombination. This is followed by a three-part study on relativistic self-consistent field (SCF) calculations. The first part considers relativistic SCF calculations in general, and in particular discusses different configurational averaging techniques and various statistical exchange approximations. The second part reviews the relativistic theory of hyperfine structure. The third part makes a number of comparisons between experimental results and values obtained in different SCF schemes, with exact as well as approximate exchange. The next case study on pseudopotentials compares the results of model potential and pseudopotential calculations. The final study reviews, on a kinetic basis, the behavior of low density ion swarms in a neutral gas.

📒Annual Reviews Of Computational Physics Iv by Dietrich Stauffer
Annual Reviews of Computational Physics IV Summary : Quantum phenomena and methods are the core of this volume in our series which publishes rapidly reviews of topics in computational physics. In addition, we look at phase transitions in Ising lattices, in continuum fluids, polymer solutions, and end with biological ageing. As before, papers were submitted by e-mail, and these files were used directly to produce the book, for increased speed and reliability.
📒Mathematical Physics 4th Edition by B.D. Gupta
Mathematical Physics 4th Edition Summary : Mathematics is an essential ingredient in the education of a student of mathematics or physics of a professional physicist, indeed in the education of any professional scientist or engineer. The purpose of Mathematical Physics is to provide a comprehensive study of the mathematics underlying theoretical physics at the level of graduate and postgraduate students and also have enough depth for others interested in higher level mathematics relevant to specialized fields. It is also intended to serve the research scientist or engineer who needs a quick refresher course in the subject. The Fourth Edition of the book has been thoroughly revised and updated keeping in mind the requirements of students and the latest UGC syllabus.
